- What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?
What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?
I'm writing this from Pure Sweat Sauna Studio in the Gulch.
Well, technically I'm outside on the sidewalk because they don't let you bring laptops into 180-degree rooms.
Who knew?
Just finished a 20-minute session and my brain feels like it got rebooted.
Which is perfect timing because I want to talk about rebooting your entire life.
Here's the thing nobody wants to admit...
Your past is irrelevant.
I don't care if you grew up poor, rich, with loving parents, or raised by wolves.
I don't care if you failed your last three businesses, got fired from your dream job, or bombed every sales call you've ever been on.
None of that shit matters.
The only thing that matters is what you do right now.
But most people treat their past like it's some kind of crystal ball that predicts their future.
"Well, I've never been good at sales..."
"I'm just not a business person..."
"I always mess things up when they start going well..."
Shut up.
You're not a fortune teller. You're just scared.
And I get it – fear is a motherfucker.
It was mine too.
I used to lie awake at night thinking about all the ways I could fail.
What if I launch this and nobody cares?
What if I put myself out there and people think I'm an idiot?
What if I try really hard and still end up broke?
Then I heard Jocko Willink say something that rewired my brain:
"Until death, all fear is psychological, and when you die, it doesn't matter anyway."
Holy shit.
Think about that for a second.
The worst thing that can happen is you die... and then you won't care because you'll be dead.
Everything else? Just stories your brain tells you to keep you safe and small.
So now I go through life asking myself one question:
"What would I do if I knew I couldn't fail?"
And then I do that thing.
Because here's what I've learned...
Failure isn't the opposite of success – it's just data.
Every "failure" teaches you something that gets you closer to winning.
The only real failure is not trying at all.
Look, I'm not saying to be reckless.
I'm saying stop letting your past write checks your future can't cash.
You want to start that business? Do it.
You want to make that career change? Do it.
You want to move to a new city, learn a new skill, or completely reinvent yourself?
Fucking do it.
Your past doesn't get a vote in your future unless you let it.
And most people spend their entire lives letting it.
Don't be most people.
Be the person who looks fear in the eye and says "you're not real, and even if you were, I'm doing this anyway."
Your future self will thank you.
And if not... well, when you're dead it won't matter anyway.
To fearless action,
Grant
P.S. If you're ready to stop letting fear run your life and start building something real, I created a guide that shows you how to use AI to write copy that actually converts. It's for people who are done making excuses and ready to take action. Get it here.
