5 lessons I learned after my first $100,000

The most important things I learned on my journey

I wish someone taught me this before I started my journey, so I’m giving you these lessons now so hopefully you can learn from my mistakes.

1. No one’s coming to save you

There’s a quote I like from Justin Waller, I like it so much that I’ll remember it for the rest of my life as well as including it in this letter.

“The best day of my life, was when I realized no one’s coming to save me”

My whole life I was someone who played the victim. It was never my fault, it was always someone else’s.

The government, society, my family, the market, and all of this shit.

I pointed the finger at everyone else except for myself.

It wasn’t until I read the book Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink that it started to click for me.

I made it a point from there on out to hold myself accountable for everything in my life no matter what.

A year later, I got into the best shape of my life, business was going well, I had the most amount of money I ever had, and I felt happier.

I know correlation doesn’t equal causation, but I like to think taking responsibility for my own life definitely helped there.

2. There’s always a bigger fish

When I first started making real money, I won’t lie, I went a little dummy.

I was booking trips to Europe for thousands of dollars, buying watches, steak dinners, and everything else entrepreneurs do on social media nowadays.

I thought that my shit didn’t stink. I thought I was the top of the food chain.

Then I went out with some other entrepreneurs in the space for the first time.

And to say my ass got humbled is an understatement.

They had supercars I could only dream of, watches that cost double than what I made in a month, connections to some of the most powerful people in the world, they had physiques that made me look like a starving child.

They had everything that I wanted and more.

And for the first time in a while, I felt insecure at that moment.

Granted I was succesful by my own terms, I was nothing compared to these guys.

But they were still eager to help me get to where I wanted to be.

From that day on, I realized that there’s always going to be someone better than you, someone who has more of everything.

When you get success, instead of flaunting it and thinking you’re the best, be appreciative of what you have and remember that the journey of growing never stops.

3. The goal post will always move

This lesson is similar to the second one.

It’s very easy to get caught up on social media and see everyone doing all these cool things and think that you’re not doing enough.

Watching that type of content is good for staying disciplined and all, but it can have a negative effect as well.

I used to think

“Oh if only I could make x amount of money per month I’ll be happy”

“If only I could go on this vacation, everything would be alright”

“If I could drive this car, I’ll be set for life”

It’s funny each time I accomplished a ‘dream' of mine, I felt nothing. I was already obsessed with the next milestone.

It wasn’t until I stopped to look around at all the things I had that I realized that only a couple years ago I wanted all of this more than anything in the world.

And I didn’t even care, I was too busy focusing on the next thing.

Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, take a step back to focus on the things you do have.

Because the goal post will always move, you’ll always want the next thing after you get the first thing.

Remember that the place you’re in right now was nothing but a fantasy at some point in the past.

After all, the wealthiest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.

4. No one is thinking about you

This is for everyone who is scared to put themselves out there because they are scared about what other people will say.

I’m here to say that they don’t care about you.

They are too worried about their own life to even pay attention to your ‘flaws.’

And the ones who do hate on you, here’s something I want you to remember.

You will never meet a hater who’s doing better than you.

I can confirm that this is the case and understanding this is the most freeing thing you can do for yourself.

And think about it,

Are you really gonna let some stranger or someone you don’t care about stop you from getting to where you want to go?

Sounds like a bitch move to me.

5. Dreams don’t work unless you do

Having a goal doesn’t make you unique, it’s the price you’re willing to pay to achieve the goal that does” - Alex Hormozi

I spent a majority of my life waiting for something to happen.

For something to fall out of the sky that would get to me where I wanted to be.

Ideally, with little effort on my end.

But that’s not how the world works.

You have to put in the work to get to where you want to be.

No one gets skinny after just one salad just like how no one gets ripped after one workout.

It’s about consistency, and those who can stay consistent the longest end up winning.

It’s about showing up everyday, even when you don’t want to.

It’s a long game you have to play, and most people don’t have the patience to play.

This was my mindset when I decided I wanted to start making real money and get into better shape.

I’m not super rich or super ripped by any means.

All of that takes time, and there’s plenty of people who are ahead of me.

They may quit along the way, but one thing is for certain.

I’ll still be here everyday putting in the work, no matter how long it takes.

And you should too.

If it was easy, everyone would have it.
